Tinsley Bridge, a Sheffield steel vehicle suspension manufacturer, had been approached by BAE to help with an urgent problem - the Army desperately needed to improve the suspension of its Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicle at its increased protection weight, raise its rise height and maintain its mobility - and time was of the essence. A series of grants from the Technology Strategy Board helped the company develop the solution. Since the BAE/Ministry of Defence project, Tinsley Bridge has won two more grants under the Technology Strategy Board's Smart scheme for research and development.
